A number of the settlement areas are populated by French Acadians. St. Ann's Church (right) dates to 1902, in a parish was first begun in 1799. |

Many Acadians in this area resisted the expulsion and remained in this area continously since that time. Fishing communities are scattered all along this route. |

The boat on the left is passing out to sea through a marshy canal, too shallow to traverse at low tide, but capable of allowing passage at other times. |

a field of 17 huge and powerful windmills, extracting electric power from the often steady winds of the coastal area. You will visit these impressive windmills up close, as their huge blades slice through the air. |
